Yumoto Fujiya Hotel Hot Spring Review | Forest Open-Air Bath Near Hakone-Yumoto Station

If you’re looking for a convenient day-trip hot spring in Hakone, Yumoto Fujiya Hotel is one of the best options near Hakone-Yumoto Station.

Located just across the Ajisai Bridge from the station, the hotel is easy to reach even if you’re visiting Hakone for only a few hours.

Ajisai Bridge

I recently visited the hotel’s day-use hot spring on a rainy afternoon.

Hotel Lobby

Although I had stayed here with my parents several years ago, this was my first visit in a long time.

Back then, I assumed Yumoto Fujiya Hotel was simply a large and well-known hotel.

It looked impressive, but I didn’t expect the hot springs to leave much of an impression.

I was wrong.

The baths turned out to be one of the highlights of my stay, and I had wanted to return ever since.

An Open-Air Bath Surrounded by Trees

The greatest attraction of Yumoto Fujiya Hotel’s hot spring is the open-air bath.

Photography is not permitted inside the bathing area, but the scenery is memorable.

Trees surround the bath on all sides, and branches stretch overhead, creating the feeling of soaking in a forest rather than in the center of Hakone-Yumoto.

When I visited, fresh green leaves filled the view, and the gentle sound of rain added to the peaceful atmosphere.

Despite being only a short walk from the station, the bath feels surprisingly secluded.

In autumn, the surrounding trees turn brilliant shades of red and gold. At night, the illuminated foliage creates an entirely different atmosphere, making the bath especially beautiful.

A Fragrant Hinoki Cypress Bath

Another bath that I particularly enjoy here is the hinoki cypress bath.

As soon as I step into the bath, I notice the gentle fragrance of hinoki cypress.

I love the scent of hinoki, so I particularly enjoyed this bath.

Sitting in the warm water while enjoying the natural aroma feels incredibly relaxing.

The changing room was spacious, clean, and well maintained.

Private Baths for Families and Couples

Yumoto Fujiya Hotel also offers private baths that can be used by day visitors.

This can be a good option for families, couples, or travelers who prefer a more private bathing experience.

Relaxing After the Bath

After the bath, I stopped by the relaxation area for a short break.

There are reclining chairs near the windows, and I spent some time enjoying a cold drink while looking out at the greenery outside.

It’s not a so large lounge, but it’s a nice place to sit and relax for a while before heading home.
