When people think of hotels in Hakone, Yumoto Fujiya Hotel(湯本富士屋ホテル) is often one of the first names that comes to mind.
Located just a short walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station, it is one of the most famous and established hotels in the area.
To be honest, however, I was never particularly interested in staying here.
I knew it was popular, large, and well-known, but I assumed it would feel more like a conventional hotel than a memorable Hakone experience.
That impression completely changed when I stayed here with my parents a few years ago.
After spending a night here, I finally understood why so many visitors continue to choose Yumoto Fujiya Hotel.
The bright atmosphere, beautiful mountain views, comfortable rooms, and excellent hospitality made the stay far more enjoyable than I expected.
Even my parents and my child loved the experience.

Enjoy Views of Hakone and the Romancecar
Yumoto Fujiya Hotel has long been one of Hakone’s landmark hotels.
One of the highlights of the hotel is its spacious lobby and lounge areas.
Large floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the lush mountains of Hakone, and from inside the hotel, guests can watch the bright red Odakyu Romancecar glide through the valley below.
The scenery alone makes it worth spending a few quiet moments here.
Comfortable Guest Rooms with Panoramic Mountain Views

Yumoto Fujiya Hotel offers a variety of room types, including single rooms, twin rooms, family rooms, and suites.
During my stay, I chose a Deluxe Twin Room.
What I remember most clearly is the view.
The large windows framed the mountains of Hakone like a living painting.
I stayed at the hotel in early November, just as the autumn colors were beginning to appear in Hakone.
The air was incredibly clear, and the mountain scenery looked especially beautiful.
Looking out over the mountains from the room was one of my favorite parts of the stay.
I found the view so relaxing that I often paused for a moment just to admire the scenery.

Hot Springs
The hot springs were one of the highlights of my stay.

I also enjoyed spending time at the hotel’s bar, which had an elegant yet welcoming atmosphere.
A Gentle and Comforting Japanese Breakfast
The next morning, I enjoyed a traditional Japanese breakfast.
At first glance, it looked like a typical hotel breakfast set, but the quality was excellent.
The hot tofu was especially memorable.
Each dish was served warm and prepared with a gentle, thoughtful touch.
It was one of those breakfasts that quietly helps you slow down and enjoy the morning.

I especially recommend Yumoto Fujiya Hotel for:
