Overview
I visited Yunosato Okada(湯の里 おかだ), a day-use hot spring facility in Hakone Yumoto, expecting a relaxing afternoon of hot springs and sauna.
After spending several hours here, my impression was mixed.
The outdoor bathing area is spacious, the sauna is excellent, and the relaxation facilities are more extensive than I expected.
On the other hand, I personally found the hot spring water and overall atmosphere less impressive than some of Hakone’s other popular day-use onsen.
If you’re looking for an affordable place to spend a few relaxing hours, Yunosato Okada is worth considering.
However, if you’re visiting Hakone for the best hot spring experience, there may be better choices.

⭐ My Ratings
Hot Springs: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆

Value: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆
Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆
First Impression
The building sits on a hillside overlooking the Hakone mountains.
After paying the admission fee at the front desk, I took the elevator to the fourth floor.

As soon as the doors opened, large windows revealed beautiful green mountain views stretching across the valley.

The Hot Springs

The outdoor bathing area includes:
- Open-air baths
- Jet baths
- Lying baths
- Waterfall-style baths
- Cold bath
- Sauna
The space feels open and uncrowded, making it easy to relax.
As someone who enjoys saunas, I especially liked the combination of the hot sauna and cold bath.
It was easy to spend a long time alternating between the two.
My Honest Opinion of the Hot Spring

While I enjoyed the outdoor baths and sauna, I wasn’t particularly impressed by the hot spring water itself.
It isn’t a free-flowing natural spring, and I personally noticed a slight chlorine smell.
The facilities also feel a little older compared with some of Hakone’s newer or more famous day-use onsen.
If I compare it with places like Hakone Yuryo or Tenseien, I think those facilities offer a more memorable overall experience.
That doesn’t mean Yunosato Okada is bad—it simply didn’t stand out to me as much.

Facilities
Good Relaxation Facilities
There are:
- A small fitness room
- A manga library
- Free massage chairs
- A game room
- A quiet tatami relaxation room

Everything is available free of charge for visitors.
The massage chairs were especially popular, and I found them incredibly comfortable after spending time in the baths.
Private rest rooms are also available for an additional fee if you want more privacy.
Restaurant Yamabiko

I didn’t eat here because it was busy with guests staying at Hakone no Mori Okada.

However, I checked the menu and was pleasantly surprised by the prices.
Sashimi and tempura set meals cost around ¥1,980, while tendon was under ¥1,500, making it one of the more affordable restaurants in Hakone.

Yunosato Okada is connected with Hotel Okada and Hakone no Mori Okada, making it a convenient option for overnight guests as well.

Final Thoughts
I enjoyed spending a relaxing afternoon at Yunosato Okada.
The variety of baths, including the waterfall shower, jet bath, and reclining bath, made the experience more fun than I expected.
While I personally prefer Hakone Yuryo or Tenseien or Tenzan Onsen for their hot springs and overall atmosphere, Yunosato Okada is a great choice if you’re looking for a quiet and uncrowded day-use onsen where you can simply relax and soak at your own pace.
