If you are looking for a memorable place to stay in Hakone-Yumoto, I recommend RoheN Hakone Yumoto.
This stylish guesthouse was created by renovating a 100-year-old Japanese ryokan.
Let’s take a look inside.

First-Floor Lounge

The first thing that catches your eye is the large open atrium.
Large windows bring in natural light and views of the surrounding trees.
Soft music plays in the background, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

The staff are warm and friendly, and the atmosphere is genuinely special.

Upstairs, you’ll find another beautiful lounge area.

Second-Floor Lounge

Guests use these lounge areas for breakfast, evening drinks, or simply relaxing after a day of sightseeing.

The building still retains the character of the original ryokan while feeling modern and welcoming.

The café is also open to non-guests during the day.
On this visit, I ordered the “Bicerin RoheN Style.”

It is a space where everyone can spend time in their own way.
Many guest reviews mention the lounge areas as one of the highlights of their stay.
RoheN is not simply a place to sleep. It is a place to enjoy your stay.
Guest Rooms, Terrace, and Shared Facilities
With permission from the staff, I was able to see some of the guest areas.

The rooms are simple, clean, and thoughtfully designed.
Even as a guesthouse, comfort has clearly been a priority.

The bathrooms and shared facilities were also very clean and well maintained.

Who Should Stay at RoheN Hakone Yumoto?
RoheN Hakone Yumoto is about a five-minute walk from Hakone-Yumoto Station.
Many cafés, restaurants, and day-use hot springs are located nearby, making it a convenient base for exploring Hakone.
RoheN is not a luxury ryokan.
It is a stylish guesthouse with a relaxed atmosphere.
If you care about where you stay as much as what you do, RoheN Hakone Yumoto is well worth considering.
